The Association's Founding Ideals

The Rose Harmony Association was established in 1993 to help its members and associates, together with other similarly-striving individuals, to work in a way that allows the creative-spirit of Naturethat greatest of artiststo be the creative force in what we seek to accomplish in human life.

We strive thereby to bring into human life a harmony that is an image of the harmony working in Naturethe domain of the rosea harmony capable of overcoming, as in nature, all opposing disharmonies.

Hence the Association's name.

The Association's founding members recognize five ideals as guiding our striving for such a “rose harmony” human life, a life that is health-sustaining in all its dimensions:

-  to seek, as the source of our thinking, the creative-spirit at work in the organic processes of Nature; and to see our human work as a continuation of Nature's creative activity.

-  to consciously place our human work in the service of this creative-spirit.

-  to serve humanity with love and respect for others' freedom and individual paths, so that this creative-spirit is revealed in the relations between human beings.

-  to allow this creative-spirit to give value to our work, rather than to seek personal, materialistic gain from it.

-  to remember that our life and work is of value only as long as it rightfully manifests this underlying creative-spiritrather than live and work only for the sake of outer results.

The RoseHarmony Name

RoseHarmony offers itself as an organ of service for those who wish to cooperate with each other. It has no agenda other than that of fostering exchanges based on interest. Out of the give-and-take of this interactive life, a natural form of association will grow. Who is to say what can arise out of the many personal connections which are cultivated? As needs are expressed and the response of helping gestures are found, a less personal relation is built, an “association,” out of which a life impulse may result. In this sense Rose Harmony can be viewed as a seedbed for associative life based on direct access to sources of spiritual renewal.

For those who can recognize it, the name itself directly refers one to the source. The rosy dawn color is an inner experience which many discover on their life’s path, leading to transformation and the first hint that one may be able to serve. There is a realm of perfection, expressed in the living symbol of the five-petalled rose, which can be relied on. It is ineffable and inexhaustible. As from a deep wellspring, healing of all past wrongs may be enacted, and, again, from this spring-source flows the ability to confidently build for the future. The affirmation of this source is expressed in the acrostic:

R   Renewal through working with primal sources

O   Observation, awakened through genuine interest in the “other”

S    Schooling of the senses leading to practical abilities

E    Education of the “new person” (or of the Vita Nuova) which each one may become.

These could perhaps form the first four steps of a pathway which may be shared with a larger or smaller community. The fifth element is an affirmation, which after the hard work involved in the four steps comes out of grace. We can never really forecast when or how a spiritual step may be taken. We will suddenly realize: now something has become possible which before was only an hypothesis. The future, the fulfillment of the striving of ages has descended upon us. We experience: now, even though perhaps in a modest way, an element of the deeper aims of spiritual evolution has become accessible. And, despite all the seeming setbacks we experience in these critical times, we may feel: truly mankind is given the opportunity in this age to cross a great threshold and enter into a new spiritual culture. This is the Harmony which unites heaven and earth. This is the grace which alone makes possible the realization of the spiritual in practical daily life.
